Small breasts, large breasts, small nips, large nips, flat nips, inverted, shy and wide.
Small baby, chubby baby, prem baby, long baby, late baby and every baby in between.
Exclusive breastfeeding, combination feeding, flexi-feeding, pump and bottle-feeding.
Your pregnancy, your labour, your birth, baby's position in the womb and what happened after your baby arrived.
There are so many intricate details that make your story yours.
So many variables that change the course of your breast feeding just a little this way or that.
So many different clues that your baby gives you, different ways that they behave and signal to you that they want a feed, have trapped gas, need to sleep, want a cuddle.
And then I hear someone say - 'Surely breastfeeding is natural, I'll just figure it out when baby arrives.'
Of course I hope that's true but experience has shown me again and again, that if you do, you're the exception not the rule.
When breastfeeding is approached differently, there's less room for vague scaremongering and more room for clarity that belongs to you.
That's what I bring to the breastfeeding field. Learning to work with the body and baby you have because you can't change it for something different. When you learn how to get the best for you and your baby, you're finally equipped with practical skills that make sense and make a difference.
